Motorized Microscope Stages for High-Stability Imaging
Ultrasonic piezo-motor microscope stages are self-locking at rest and provide better long-term stability than conventional lead-screw driven stages, where lubricant creep and mechanical play can contribute to drift. They are also compact because they do not require bulky external motors or long screw drives.
Ultrasonic motors provide a large dynamic velocity range, from microns per second to more than 100 mm/sec, while maintaining very smooth low-speed motion. The stiff ceramic motor drive enables fast step-and-settle behavior, helping automated microscopy systems acquire images faster and with better positioning stability.
PI also offers manual microscope stages. Both manual and motorized versions can be combined with fast piezo nanopositioning and scanning stages for sub-micron and nanometer-scale imaging tasks.
